1. Define your remodel needs. It is so important to clearly understand the underlying motive for the change so that the desired outcome is realized. Sometimes, if a good discussion with your contractor doesn’t happen in the beginning, what you get may be what the contractor heard you say, but may not be at all what you really meant to say or actually wanted. Clear, precise communication and understanding is the key to happiness for all.

2. Plan out your ideas. We will draw the design pictures with you, go with you to pick out materials, and offer guidance as to what will and won’t work for you.

3. Order the materials. We order, follow-up, and expedite shipping and delivery to coordinate with your job start-date. This is crucial and we are very good at it.

4. Demolition! This can be fun for the workers, but it’s only fun for you if we’ve coordinated the haulers and facilities to remove all the debris each day to leave your home as clean as possible. Again, we are very good at this.

5. Rough-in. We install the plumbing and electrical and anything else that might go behind the drywall. The excitement is building as you can begin to see the new project take shape.

6. Finish. Install drywall and apply the paint. Install fixtures such as lighting, sink or tub faucets, toilets, tile, or showers. This is F U N.

7. Completion. We do a final walk through together reviewing our initial discussion and looking for any last touch-up needs before cleaning up one last time and saying good-bye…until next time.

This was a big job! No doubt about it, and many words come to mind when describing the overhaul on this home.

Renew~ The floors had dry rot so severe that they could not be repaired, but rather totally gutted and started from scratch.

Reinvent~ The beautiful original cove base was almost gone with a rubber trim temporarily in place. We custom built a base mold that looks flawless, and maybe even better than the original.

Rejuvenate~ The floors had so many different coverings (carpet, linoleum, weathered wood) and so many transitions that it compartmentalized spaces and made everything feel small. We created a larger, seamless feel by tearing up all floor coverings and refinishing the original wood flooring to a beautiful finish. With bright, consistent flooring throughout the house it now has a spacious, clean feel.

Revitalize~ Both the kitchen and the bathrooms were desperate for a structural as well as a facade makeover. Installing state-of-the-art appliances and fixtures breathed new life into this beautiful home.

Restore~ The original dining room cabinetry was well built and in pretty good shape. It just needed our expert woodworking to restore it to its original luster. The result is seamless and beautiful.

Rekindle~ The floors have been completely redone, the fixtures all updated, the walls painted a bright clean color throughout, and the kitchen and baths updated and opened up for more space ~ this home and its owners have a renewed sense of pride.

It’s one thing to have adequate light for the preparation of food and another to feel like you’re in a surgical suite. This kitchen was outdated; the lighting was too bright and too low. These homeowners wanted their kitchen to be a calm place, a haven where food preparation might be a pleasure and a joy.

These homeowners had a list of small improvements that would add up to make a big impression. The wall paper had to go. They wanted an undermount sink, 3cm quartz countertops, appliances that fit properly and most importantly lighting that did not cause one to squint.

In this beautiful new kitchen everything is more spacious with the soffit removed and new cabinetry installed. The white tile backsplash is clean and bright, the reed glass gently reflects the soft lighting and shows off the owner’s china beautifully, and the brown colors in the quartz countertops perfectly compliment the brown colors in the cabinetry. Canned lighting and under-counter lighting was installed and the effect is soft and warm ~ not overpowering.

The final look is updated, fresh, and modern. The homeowners are ecstatic with the new cabinetry, walls, sink, white tile, and they love that the new lighting is bright without being stark or sterile.

We’ve all heard the saying, “No matter where I serve my guests, they seem to like my kitchen best.” When this kitchen was originally built, that saying was not kept in mind. The dark colors and low soffited cupboards created a smothered-in feeling that was less than inviting. Friends and family might want to chat while meals are being prepared, but that just can’t happen in this small space. The chef might want to watch TV while cooking but the view is blocked. In addition to that, the appliances were inconveniently located and made kitchen use convoluted and frustrating.

This kitchen design just isn’t working – Star Builders can fix it.

First — demolition! Out with the old carpet, linoleum, soffit, cupboards, appliances, etc. Now the new cabinetry can be installed and appliances can be reinstalled and located properly for ease of use when working in the kitchen, as well as dry-wall, painting, and roughing in the electrical, plumbing, and mechanical.

The clients had so much fun watching the transformation of their kitchen take place. It went from a boring, drab old caterpillar to a brilliant and inviting butterfly. Seeing the new cabinetry, laminate floating floor, and 3cm quartz counter top was thrilling – just like Christmas morning.

This kitchen has a completely different feel. It’s open, airy, bright, cheerful and inviting. The newly installed bar and correctly installed appliances creates a much larger floor footprint. Conversations, TV watching, etc. can now easily take place.

This 1980’s kitchen and nook needed to be taken out!  Star builders will remove the soffiting, old cabinets, flooring, appliance, trim, lighting and wall paper. When Star builders are done these clients will not only have a new Kitchen but a new kitchen design. The clients decided they wanted ceiling height cabinets in oak with a beautiful quartz counter top, highlighted with a nice laminate floor.  Wait tell you see the finish product.

These Clients are having Star Builders replace their existing tile counter tops with beautiful slab quarts Cambria counter tops. We will also be installing a glass tile backsplash that will be extremely attractive with the new counters! The new appliance, sink and under mount lights will just take this kitchen to an all new level of WOW!

In the nook and family area Star Builders will be adding custom cabinetry to enhance this already colorful cottage style home. Modification will be made to the gas fire place, wall and surround. Lastly we will install new carpet and wall paint throughout.

Just wait this house will have an all new Star appearance!

Project Review:

These Clients kitchen theme is Country all the way! They decided they wanted travertine in a subway pattern as backsplash and it looks fabulous with their new granite countertops! A few weeks later they had us come back and lay tile on the floor. The tile they choose is not travertine but porcelain and is designed to look like travertine. It has a really nice look and easy to maintain. They updated the kitchen and kept the country look, good job!
